THE AMBITIOUS CROW
The crows are ugly to look at. So they are unhappy. They want to be beautiful. But how! Once a crow got a chance to be beautiful. One day the crow found some beautiful feathers of a peacock in a jungle. He became very glad. He took the feathers one by one and stuck them in among his own feather.
He looked at himself and became glad and proud because he was no longer ugly like other crows. So, he made up his mind to go to the peacocks and live with them. Seeing him the peacocks understood that he was a crow in the guise of a peacock. They attacked him, pulled out the false feathers and drove him away. When he returned to the crows, they also drove him away. The crow realized his fault. He promised to the crows that he would never be false.
অনুবাদঃ কাক
দেখতে কুৎসিত। তাই তারা অসুখী। তারা সুন্দর হতে চায়। কিন্তু কীভাবে! একদা একটা
কাক সুন্দর হওয়ার সুযোগ পেল। একদিন কাকটি এক বনে ময়ূরের কিছু সুন্দর পালক দেখতে
পেলো। সে খুবই আনন্দিত হলো। সে পালকগুলো একটা একটা করে নিল এবং এগুলোকে তার নিজের
পালকের সাথে লাগাল। সে নিজের দিকে তাকাল এবং আনন্দিত ও গর্ববোধ করল কারণ সে আর
অন্য কাকদের মতো কুৎসিত ছিল না। তাই সে ময়ূরদের কাছে যেতে এবং তাদের সাথে থাকতে
মনস্থির করলো। তাকে দেখে ময়ূরেরা বুঝতে পারল যে সে ময়ূরের ছদ্মবেশে একটা কাক।
তারা তাকে আক্রমণ করল, নকল পালকগুলো
টেনে তুলে ফেলল এবং তাকে তাড়িয়ে দিল। যখন সে কাকদের কাছে ফিরে গেল, তারাও তাকে তাড়িয়ে দিল। কাক তার ভুল বুঝতে
পারল। সে কাকদের কাছে প্রতিজ্ঞা করল যে সে কখনো প্রতারণা করবে না।
